WooHoo it is Tickle a Teapotter time of the month. Jan aka Heartsong47 aka de mama, has taken us for a beautiful walk down memory lane. We are going on a summer picnic!! There is something very special about juggling a plate of food, trying not to spill your drink and swatting flyÂ’s all at the same time....ahhh but we loved it. We spent half of our lives at the beach but dad absolutely refused to have a picnic on the sand so we always had our picnics in the bush by a lake or river.
Here we have Stevie and Norma enjoying a summer picnic by the lake. It looks like Norma has carefully co-coordinated their outfits by matching her floaty device to Stevie's sunhat. Truth be told the floaty was originally her hat. I made a slit in the lake and popped Norma's legs in the water but it looked like she was walking on the water so I quickly removed her hat and made it into a floaty. Job done!!
About the card - no prizes for guessing this was made using Distress Ink with the smack and squirt technique, using foam blending tools (rectangular foam pads). Smack distress ink pad onto aluminium foil then squirt on some water. Use the foam blending tool to mop up the inky water and apply to the card. Keep building up the colour - to make the colours more intense, allow a few minutes drying time between coats.
I like to use the TH rectangular foam blending pads, especially using the side edge to get an area marked out. I started this card by doing the lake first, then roughly made a mask to cover it while adding the green ink. A little bit of extra grass was added using pencils. I lightly used white and blue pencils to give the sense of movement in the lake. The trees and leaves were stamped after the background was bone dry, that way the colours don't soak into the background colours.
Stevie (he looked a bit like Stevie Wonder when I tried to draw his sunglasses), I digress, and Norma were mainly coloured with distress inks but I did use a Spectrum Noir pen around the edges.
Thank you for looking. It is great being back in Teapotterville, have a lovely week ladies.

I've never been able to decide which I like best, your stories or cards! Another winner with this one. The collapsed floatie as a sunhat is definitely my favorite thing. So nice to see your cards again.

Oh my word! I would love to be a fly on the wall watching this card develop! The draw part- that hat and the story of the float- geez, you REALLY are amazing! The landscape is incredible and love the way the grass goes down into the water. This is an exceptional work of art as is all your work! And it's FUN too!

Hurrah! More Birds! I absolutely LOVE your ripples on the water!!!!! The depths you've accomplished with your blues in the water and in the sky is Amazing! And what a Spectacular save with the floaty! I also admire your fence shadows.
I'm glad you picked the name Stevie....he definitely does look very Stevie Wonder-ish. The effect is Perfect. I guess Stevie doesn't want Norma to have all the fun. I See him there...with his little bird toes wiggling in the water's edge. I would love to see what Norma is looking at. From the look on her face it doesn't seem like this will continue to be your normal day at the beach. Of course, Stevie doesn't see it....he has his fashionable sunglasses on. Plus, he probably only has his eyes on Norma. (Could this be THEE Norma Jean, aka Marilyn Monroe?) Anyway, back to the adorable bug-eyed look and the cute little nervous smile on Norma's face. I'll bet this enjoyable summer picnic by the lake is on a beautiful beach on Loch Ness. Run, Norma and Stevie, Run!
OK, I'm done. Sometimes I just can't help adding a little drama. This is a very Impressive card, Susie!!! Thanks for the Birds!

So creative too, as her "Hat " floatie is a perfect idea. maybe can hit a river channel. Love the fence in the foreground too, even bits off like IRL....Right on A super way to come back....TFS...HUGS
