I didn't really have any picnic stamps in my stash (certainly not a basket like some of you)...so I created a little scene where a picnic could take place. I drew my own basket and cut out a tablecloth (gingham of course) and added our favorite picnic pest...a few ants! The card actually started with this Laura Ingalls Wilder quote....I think picnics are one of life's simple yet memorable moments. It's funny that this challenge came about today...I'm actually going on a picnic tomorrow with my sister and her grandsons. We're going to a park out in the country near the town I grew up in (20 miles from here) . It's on a farm (but the farmer donated that area to the county for this park) and it's on top of some bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. It's got trails to hike and a picnic area. I can't wait to go. Most of my picnics growing up were at the beach. My mom would pack peanut butter sandwiches, chips, and Twinkies (guess we weren't into healthy back then..it was a treat after all)! That's probably the only time we got Twinkies...Oh ya...my sister is bringing them tomorrow ;)

Prolly, you created a great place for a picnic! That's a wonderful quote, and I love the sweet gingham birdies! I know you're going to have such fun tomorrow. Sounds like a beautiful place!

Still cheating with those twinkies are you? Yikes, this is so wonderful, Polly. Love the basket w/checkered clothe and the ants. Just adorable. Everything about your card is adorable.

One of the very best things about being a Teapotter is reading stories and getting to know each other. I didn't want your story to end. I hope you have a brilliant picnic with your family tomorrow - wish we could all be there!! Now about your card....a picnic perfection on paper. I love it to bits Polly.

OMG...how awesome is that. What a wonderful thing for the farmer to do. I bet it was a beautiful farm growing up at overlooking places like that. You guys are gong to have such a super time...even the twinkies....I would so join on the po and twinkie picnics...I have never had one...not as common here in canada I don't think. kept seeing them in the archie comics. Love your picnic spot here too. Birds to keep melodious harmony for the bg , beautiful shade tree, sun shining....just lovely...TFS..:0)

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote that??? I have loved that show, 'Little House on the Prairie'. Polly your card is so sweet - I love the plaid leaves, the checkered birds, your light circles on the tree and even the little ants on the table cloth this is so sweet!!!
