I needed to make a Father's Day card for my dad, and what better way to get inspired than by a challenge?!
The clean & simple challenge, CAS381 a Hey Dude! (6/13/16) was to make a Fathers Day card, and the Ways to Use it Challenge, WT588 - Make it Masculine (6/16/16), was to make a guy card. Both challenges gave me a good reason to finally use some new stamp goodies - SU Bear Hugs stamp and matching die set.
The green tree background is from my discard pile. I was experimenting with different green inks on the SU wonderland pine trees. This one used SU Cucumber Crush, which is kind of bright and garish for pine trees, but seemed to work just fine with the Kraft color of the bears and the bright red details.
This was so fun to make! If you look closely you will notice that the big bear is hugging the heart he is holding, and that his arms are stamped on the back side. I learned from watching videos that you stamp the bear first, die cut it, flip the die cut and stamp the back. You have to wing-it when you stamp on the back, doing your best to center the stamp on the die cut. Amazingly enough, it's pretty easy to do.
I would recommend that you stamp/die cut/stamp back of several bears at one time. The more I did, the better my aim got on the back of the die cut. And the advantage of doing many at a time is that they are ready to use on future cards. I made 2 more projects after this card, just because I had leftovers!
Do you need to make a guy card? Come join the fun in the CAS381 Hey Dude challenge and the WT588 Make it Masculine challenge.
Thanks for stopping by to look at my Bear Hugs card!
