For this week's weather free-for-all weather challenge.
Every spring we take our fifth graders to a camp in the Cascade foothills for Resident Outdoor School. ItÂ’s a rich time for all, with environmental education, group processes, campfire skits. Well, since Oregon spring weather is very interesting, the weather station is a key environmental exploration station! The kids take measurements and announce them after the dinner meal, and after singing the weather song.
The lyrics are word processed for this card, and I stamped several images and sponged in gray (totally appropriate for most western Oregon winters). Look closely and you can see fog, clouds, rain, snow, and the sun that powers it all.
I layered the lyrics over a panel that had been embossed several times and distressed. I think the divine swirls suggest the breeze-- It's rare that there isn't one.
Confession: My geographer's brain went into overdrive and censored several designs. What's the difference between weather and climate? Seasons? What I know for sure-- Here, if you don't like the weather, wait a bit. It'll change. If you don't like the climate, move.
Over-thinking is not productive.
