For Dina's MIX176 : Scratch Art challenge.
I could do better - but yesterday was a long 12-hour day with a lot of travelling, and it was fun to make so I'm happy.
I used Gelatos on some heavy mixed media paper, then painted over with black gouache.
By the time I'd caught up with comments on the WT challenge yesterday, the paint was dry; it's almost 80F in my attic today, and raining so I can't open the windows.
So - I was going to emboss the rose but was afraid the EP might stick where I didn't want it, so I simply stamped it with Versamark and used that as a guideline to scratch the outline using a fine stylus. Then I used a darning needle to scratch detail into the rose petals, this is where I really, really could have done a lot better.
Layered it onto matt gold card, scratched stitch lines all round the edge and then added a sentiment tag, using some rainbow paper underneath to pick up on the different colours in my base piece.

Sabrina, this is so dramatic and beautiful. You did a marvelous job with the etching, lovely details in the rose. The tag picks up the colors nicely and is the perfect finish.

I applaud you on a gorgeous card . . . .I tried the technique but quickly figure this was not even close to "my thing" (perhaps the medium I had to use) Your result on the other hand - STUNNING
