This mouse image is one I really wanted to ink up for Lisa's In Stitches challenge, it's been quite some time since I used it. So last night I stamped it on watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks - and then thought I'd wait for the MIX challenge today to see if I could finish it into a card for that.
Well, Polly's first challenge is Frame It!!, so that meant I was up and running.
I used Dina's Sanded Pencil Background tutorial, which brought in my extra medium. Alas, the first one, done on watercolour paper - I neglected to remove the fine masking tape I'd used instead of a stencil before die-cutting the aperture, and the tape stuck firm. So for the second time round, I use some acrylic paper and actually I really like the canvas-like texture, it goes with the embroidery theme. I stamped little sewing accessories (thanks to Francie!!) in some of the squares, laid the mouse panel behind and added it to a card base sponged with Vintage Photo distress stain. And I tried and tried to add some dyed seam-binding, but it just didn't look right so I've left it plain and simple.

Adorable little critters sending out a sweet message. I like the background quilt you created to frame the cute and nicely colored little critters. Sweet card.

That sanded bg is very cool and I love the addition of the tiny stamping motifs (I have those stamps, too). Your little sewing mice are darling (perhaps they are some of Cinderella's friends?). What a great card for both challenges...thanks for playing along today my friend ;)

Those little mice are just the cutest, Sabrina. I must check out Dina's sanded pencil bg because I really like that. Super card! BTW, hope you get those cosmos into the ground.

What a happy, little card, Sabrina. The mice are so cute and colored to perfection. The bg looks fantastic with that cool bg technique and the little sewing items
