The original journal looked absolutely horrible, so I gave it a coat of gesso and then followed that up with Distress inks by sponging them on. I'm giving this one a "3" in irritation level as the Stampington wings were very difficult to get stamped next to the octopus lady. I think it took me 4 tries to get it right. I stamped them on mixed media paper, cut out, and then cut out again when it came to the tentacles. I then did my "signature move" where I stamped the bottom of the octopus lady directly onto the journal cover itself and affixed the mixed media lady over it. I used sponges, Q-tips, and baby wipes to color her before doing so, and the image is embossed. The printout below her is from Vectoria Designs - I printed it out on regular paper, affixed to mixed media paper, and decoupaged it onto the journal with Liquitex -- I then covered everything with the medium, which brought out other original colors that I had initially gesso'd over. Now I have something pretty to sketch and write in when I am waiting on my mom when I take her to doctor appointments
You can find me on Instagram as @GrungeArtTica - I tend to post status pictures as I go along (even if it doesn't turn out). Cheers!
