This may not look like a birthday card, but it's for my BFF who loves my kitties almost as much as I do. I couldn't resist using this image.
This was my first attempt at coloring with my new Zig markers - it was kind of a yay-boo thing. The colors are beautiful, and they are extremely workable, but, oh my gosh - I had a terrible time trying to control seepage, even when adjacent areas were dry. That's the biggest reason my little cutie and the gift are fussy cut, and her dress is paper pieced.
I stamped her an additional time to create the background, and adhered the colored, fussy cut images in place with Scotch Quick Dry glue. There are several areas of the image that are highlighted with Gelly Roll Stardust pens, and her necklace and bracelet are colored with a gold metallic pen.
The image is matted with an altered scalloped rectangle die cut in DCVW glitter paper. The die was longer than my image, so it took a bit of creative cutting to get it to the right size. The same was true of the sentiment - some days, you just can't win! The sentiment is adhered with foam tape for dimension.
Now that it's finished, I'm fairly pleased with it, but there was more than one occasion when I was ready to toss it.
As always, thanks for looking!

You never toss! YOU make it work- a talent we all wish we had. LOVE the card! It turned out fantastic! The Zigs can be a challenge at times but love them for small things. Great job on her hair and the kitty! Beautifully done and such a delightful, heartfelt, personlized card for a great friend!

Aw, Jody, how sweet this card is. I think the sentiment is a hoot and the little girls dress is paper pieced perfectly. I've heard of zig markers but haven't even looked at that. So glad you could make it work (to suit you). I think it's adorable in color and paper. She'll love the sentiment, too.

The only thing cutter than this card may be your actual kittie. You chose such cheerful colors and no one would ever guess that you struggled with those pens. I love the look of the paper pieced dresd, and the sentiment is fabulous

This is adorable!! Fabulous coloring on a sweet, sweet image, and I like how you matted it also with the polka dots mimicking her polka dotted dress! Faved.
