This background created with Lumiere paints and water, then smooshing just had to have an underwater scene. I used parts of 2 different sized fish embroidery patterns for this scene. To make the outlines of the fish show up even more, I went over all the outlines with black thread, yet the orange thread still shows.
IRL you can really see the metallic movement of the Lumiere paints. It's fun playing with the Lumiere paints, water, and smooshing or dabbing to see what you get.
If you can get your hands on Lumiere paints, play with them to see what you come up with! It's fun! A few drops of one or two colors, a couple of squirts of water, all on your mat, mix it up a little and smoosh or dab. I like using Strathmore Bristol Smooth or Mixed Media.

Love the magic you do with the lumiere paints, but the stitching really makes this super fantastic. I'm so proud to be an owner of one of these amazing cards. The extra black thread makes your stitching show more.....this is drop dead gorgeous. You talked me into looking into these paints. Fav'd

A beauty Jennifer. The background you did with your Lumiere paints is the perfect "ocean" for those remarkable embroidered fish. You are a west coast gal, and having previously lived in British Columbia what immediately comes to mind is Salmon and the Salmon runs. Simply marvelous Jennifer ... thanks for sharing.

Super under water scene! The shell corners are such a fun embellishment and the water background is beautiful.
Jennifer, I've always thought your stitching was beautiful, but when I received your gorgeous card in the mail today, I was simply blown away by the exquisite handwork! I'm guessing that the background is done with Lumiere paints and I can see why you're such a fan of them - what a beautiful luster. I showed my DH your card - he's not usually impressed by crafty things, but he said "that's really pretty" and asked if it was done by hand because he thought it was too perfect. You must have great vision (or a great magnifier) and amazing patience. Thank you so much for the stunning work of art you sent me. (P.S.: For anyone reading this - I did not receive this particular card.)

Gorgeous, innovative and creative....3 words that could be used for ANY of your beautiful cards, Jennifer! The Lumiere paints give a stunning result to your bg and, of course, your stitchery done for the fish is exquisite..... makes this card a treasure. Thanks for including tips on working with this special paint.
