This is for IC539 - Seaweed Kisses. There's no specific inspiration link for this because I simply played off the idea of creating a card front that looked like an art journal page. Or a smash book page. You know, some stuff stuck on a page. The piece is very loosely built around the sonnet - two lines of which were enlarged and pasted in front of the (photocopy of) the original. It's Shakespeare's #72, so the one about the sun.
This challenge was, well, a challenge for me since I am not an art journaler, nor do I keep a journal per se. I write stuff down, but it's mostly to think something through and then it gets thrown away because I can't imagine ever wanting to read it again. But when I thought of it as a collage of related bits and pieces, I was able to come up with something.
Some may want to know more about that orange and green strip running across the top. And I wish I could tell you how I made it. But I made it so long ago that I have no clue how it came to be. There were Distress Inks involved I think, and either stamps or stencils or both. It's a scrap from a larger piece, of which I now have a small baggie of leftovers.
The girl is from Flonz. She came all the way from New Zealand and she was worth waiting for! The stamp isn't that shape on the top, it's only got the square bottom and no outline on top, but I traced a Nestie to create the arch.
Audrie - thanks for making me think really hard! Interesting challenge!
TFL!

I love that orange strip at the top and what a great collection of elements on this! The girl is way cool (NZ..WOW) and I love the framing of her and the little bird coming for a visit. And how creative to include one of Will's sonnets...of course it would be about the sun (in the corner)....

Robin, great job with making an art journal~ish card. Interesting bits are combined so well. I recognize the basic grey paper you used to make a niche (love that). Snippet of trim, staple. I like it!

Wow! What a very artsy and creative approach you took to the challenge. What you created is a fabulous example of reaching down deep and finding something new within our own creative experiences! Your talent and your willingness to give it a try has inspired me as well! Beautiful card design!
