Peggy is our hostess this week and she has chosen: tangelo twist, tempting turquoise whisper white and the desert is a touch of metallic. I knew I needed to use distress inks for my technique so I had to sub the closest distress colors: peacock feathers and spiced marmalade. No dessert for me today.
One of my 2 cards for this challenge and both are VERY different in style but use the same technique. For the bg, I used the faux mother of pearl technique. Loll Thompson has a great video tutorial here (thanks, Loll!):
However, as I was starting the project I realized that I didn't have the frost acrylic paint that Loll had used - so I had to improvise. I just used white acrylic paint and when I sponged over it, it didn't show that much and I thought okay, this technique failed. But when I was done sponging, I sprayed with Perfect Pearls pearl spray and voila - the texture showed up beautifully - yea! And it's shimmery - bonus!!
For the poppies and the word "hello", I die cut 2 sets of the poppies, and 1 of "hello", and sponged with spiced marmalade, and sprayed with shimmer mist for sparkle. I snipped the blooms off the sponged poppies, and glued them to the plain white die cut poppies. Die cut my top white portion of the card with the scalloped die, attached the hello, stamped "friend" and attached to the top of the card with dimensionals, which gives the card some great dimension.
Come and join in the challenge - you may be our next favorite!!
