I made a winter sample as a Christmas gift, and had so much fun that I bought another frame and meant to make one to keep. At this stage I thought I might was well make a summer one - though I wasn't expecting it to turn out with such a dominant beach theme.
First square - Calm Seas pelican image fussy cut, and layered onto a sponged and spritzed square. The anchor was cut out a second time and embossed with copper, there's also an IO shell die-cut coloured with pencils and glazed with Glossy Accents.
Second square - Art Journey shell stamped and coloured with pencils, background coloured with pencils. Three IO die-cuts added - the shell has glossy accents (Mini Shells set).
Third square - DeNami chick on a blue square, WPlus9 Sunshine Layers for the sun, Memory Box clouds, scalloped scissors and shimmer paper for the sea.
Fourth square - Brusho background from my scrap box, embossed with D'vine Swirl. Two flowers from Fabulous Florets layered up - embossed with clear EP and coloured with Inktense pencils, Stickles in the centre and Botanical Builders foliage.
Fifth square - Seasonal Birds image coloured with Polychromos pencils and sponged while still in the die.
Sixth square - old scraps of DP for the background, Purple Onion's Chloe fussy cut and added in.
Seventh square - acrylic paints on kraft for the base (scrap box again), and a scrap of DP from the sand. IO Shore Birds coloured with pencils.
Eighth Square: Marbled Copics (Sharpies in my case) on glossy card, Pink Cat Studio seaweed stamped in with Memories Soft Grey and coloured with pencil. Microbeads along the bottom, and a Memory Box seahorse cut from a scrap of leftover background - Brushos, maybe? Stickles bubbles added.
Ninth square - Top Dog Dies flip-flops cut from scraps, with bling in the flower centres. Sandpaper square.
All squares were matted first onto 2 1/4" dark blue squares and then 2 3/8" light blue.
Then onto a 9" square of light card, scored each way at 3" and 6" to help in the placement of the squares. That was matted onto the same light blue as the individual squares, and then onto a yellow base.
