I was inspired by the beautiful poppy paintings painted by Kathleen. They are just beautiful.
I grew some Flanders Poppies in the garden last year and it was the first time that the possums didn't dine out on them for dessert after they finished off the parsley plants. They were so very pretty and I will try to grow them again this year. They reminded me of little lady bugs - with their brilliant red and black.
Anzac Day is coming up here in April - where Australians and New Zealanders remember the terrible loss of life in Gallipoli in Turkey during the first world war. So I thought these pretty Penny Black poppies were appropriate.

Oh, Helen, I adore poppies and love your reference to Flanders Field. In our generation yet, they remain an emotional remembrance of the sacrifice made by so many! These are gorgeous, and the colors do remind me of the vivid colors of ladybugs! Beautifully colored and finished, sweet friend! xoxo

Oh how beautifully done Helen! My grandmother grew huge clumps of big red poppies with black throats at the farm. My grandfather was a veteran of WWI in France. I love your colouring and that shade of green is perfect in the leaves and the border.
