DH and my FIL did all of the work in our newly finished basement...I am so proud of both of them since it turned out exactly as I'd hoped. I know I am so fortunate to have a space like this to stamp in - I'm so grateful!
This is a storage unit from IKEA - the best $99 I've ever spent! Here's what's in each cubbie:
1:1 - everyday stamp supplies (scissors, adhesive, etc.) and dollar store mini garbage can - a must have for scraps!
1:2 - markers, watercolor pencils, embossing buddy, trimmer, etc.
1:3 - mineral spirits, acrylic sealer - mostly chemical type stuff
1:4 - tiles for stamping, magnets, votive candles - project type things
2:1 - seed and micro beads for upcoming workshop and an empty box with room to grow!
2:2 - black drawers - grosgrain and organdy ribbon. box - punches, decorative scissors
2:3 - black drawers - embossing supplies, brads, hardware, beads, buttons and eyelets. box - non SU brads and hardware
2:4 - non SU ribbon, stampin' spots
3:1 - 3:4 - card crafting books and magazines and old SU catalogs
4:1 - 4:4 - STAMPS!
TFL!

Karen - I know I answered your question in a PM, but thought others might be wondering, too...
the shelves are 15" deep, but aren't available from IKEA anymore (or at least not online). I also added a thin sheet of wood (painted white to match) to the back for stability.

TOO FUNNY! I am getting ready to purchase a shelving unit exactly like this one. I live in Germany right now and am VERY limited on space so my stampin space HAS to be in the living room so I wanted to have a place that didn't LOOK like an office or work area. I appreciate that you share what is in each cubby shelf. I have most of my stuff labeled in this office but when I move to the new "space" it will be helpful to see what I can put there. Thank you once again!

Thanks for sharing your great stampin' area!!
I have been looking at different craft work centers for a year, it has to been near my husbands music area also...wire, amps, guitars oh, my!!!
so I have to say Meg, thank you. I have been carrying this around with me for months, looking at it, trying to put my stuff into the system with this organization. I am using a very deep shelved armoire, blah! doesn't work at all. You have the organization thing down pat! I bet you had the neatest room amongst your friends!
Just wanted you to know this unit is in the Ikea until June 30th, 2007, (I am checking to see if it's still available by phone) catalog for $129.00.
EXPEDIT Bookcase, black-brown or beech. The baskets are $12.99. The white one is $179.00 and has 20 cubes.
Just an FYI for anyone like me who is counting the days until I can have a set -up like yours.
