I was so excited to find out that Loll and Bonnie had come up with a new challenge "CAS Mix up". What more could I ask for, I love mixed media and some times when I have a good day it comes out CAS. The thing with the CAS aspect is knowing when to stop and keep the white space white.
For this card I used Lyra chalks on the mixed media paper and then used a water colour brush to blend the colour. Lyra chalks are highly pigmented and blend when water is applied, I heat dried the water colour because I just can't wait.
I then, mashed up a small amount of gold Inka gold on my Kraft mat with some water and smooshed my paper to add a gold shimmery effect.
I stamped the fish using ranger archival black, heat set and coloured it with zig pens then painted with the Liquitex iridescent medium. I wanted something really sparkly to stand out against all the other shimmers I used.
The fan coral is ranger salty ocean ink mixed with Lumier pearlescent paint and daubed onto the stamp. I used my MISTI for the fish and the coral to get a good impression of both.
Unfortunately it didn't photograph particularly well, IRL it's very shimmery.
I hope you all check out their new challenge blog http://casmixup.blogspot.ca/

your background is so beautiful. thx for all the info on your products that you used. i didn't even know that there were chalks that you could use with water. i'm a major fail with chalk period but you worked them so wonderfully and then that touch of gold! tfs

So well done - you really achieved a sense of swirly water on the background. Can't wait to see it IRL to see the shimmeriness and to try out those chalks. The fish is beautiful - a wonderful range of colours.
