This is my sample for CC572. Maura is our hostess and she has chosen pacific point, marina mist, real red and wild wasabi. Dessert option this week is floss, ribbon or twine. I had every intention of using ribbon on my box and I forgot to add it on.
These colors seemed like great ones for a masculine card. So that was my starting point. From there I decided on a birthday card and from there I went with a card in a box. They are always such fun to make and receive. I have lots of guys who will appreciate a card like this.
The pacific point designer paper I used on the front, back and side panels is from the Stampin'-Up "schoolhouse collection".
The balloons and cupcakes are dies from Cottage Cutz. I cut the balloons in the challenge colors and then sponged the edges for dimension. The cupcakes are cut from Stampin'-Up dsp.
My front panel "happy" word is cut with a die from MFT in real red. I added some candles and fussy cut them. They are from the Stampin'-Up "party this way" set as is the birthday word.
On the back panel I die cut a circle and stamped my sentiment. This one is from the Stampin'-Up "birthday greetings" set.
It's hard to just show one photo of these cards because of all the detail. So tomorrow (Tuesday) on my blog, I will have other views of the card.
There is a tutorial here and here on how to create and decorate these cards. I just bought a die from Sizzix that cuts the box template for you.
That's my card for this week. Hope you can play along with us. Maura has chosen from fun colors and the design team has some great samples for inspiration.

Ah, Mary, I love these box cards, and you do them so beautifully! This is such a fun one, and I know there's a guy in your family who will be tickled to receive it. The die cuts are so cute!

Love your birthday boxes, Mary - they are so fun!! And I am sure a big hit with the recipient! Love your use of all the birthday elements and I think the box is quite complete without the ribbon!
