They're folded in half to form a book, which is only bound with a piece of ribbon through two punched holes. There is a lot of space for writing on the different cards and pages in the album. There is also room for gluing real ephemera in.

Congratulations on your very first upload to SCS, and what a great gift idea for your friend! I see you've uploaded more photos of the inside of this amazing album, and I'm sure she is going to love using it and will be thinking of you as she does.

That's a very creative way to make the album using brown paper bags. Very cool and it's so pretty. I'm betting your friend will love it.
