Since there are many August birthdays on my calendar, I chose it with its gladioulus. It's a flower that is not depicted here on SCS very often, so I thought that could be a fun aspect too. Using a photo as a guide, I roughly sketched the gladioli(plural of gladiolus) before watercoloring them. To qualify for the MIX challenge and its requirement of a least two forms of medium, I did the green bits and bg with Copics.
This card is also for PTI's 9th anniversary challenge today using a "Color Pop Fortune Teller"....an origami-like folded "chart" that is given on Nichole's blog.

One of my favorite flowers - my beloved grandmother always had them in her garden when I was growing up - and some were colored exactly like this. Your depiction is perfect, and I'm in awe that the background is Copics. Thanks for a wonderful trip down memory lane, Sallie!

I'd just love to wake up one morning and have this talent! This is amazing and I love the texture you achieved in the background with copics! You draw your images, WOW! These are all worthy of framing and would make a beautiful gallery in your home!

Beautiful Sallie!! Oh my, you make my heart just race each time I see one of your gorgeous water colors!! I think half because I wish I could paint so beautifully and half because it reminds me of my mom...which I love because I miss her!! Thank you so much for doing a beautiful watercolor today and playing in the challenge! LOVE it!
