My trip to Pennsylvania 16 years ago!
I included all the postcards I sent back to my family while I was gone.
Journaling: During the summer of 1990, I participated in a Girl Scout adventure week in Pennsylvania. The session was titled “Catch the Foxfire Spirit” and was all about learning about pioneers and their way of life. I lived with a host family for a few days and they toured me around Lancaster, Pennsylvania otherwise known as Amish Country. We also went to Hershey Park! Yum, Yum! Then I spent a few days at Camp Furnace Hills located in Denver, PA. At this camp they had a real pioneer house. We learned many of the chores of a typical pioneer girl, cooking, cleaning, sewing, spinning, etc… Then we invited the community to visit the camp and we reenacted the activities of a pioneer family. I remember it being a super experience!
