Lacyquilter (Melody) had a technique challenge for us on our visit to Indonesia! VSN Indonesia Batik
I chose to try the Acrylic Batik. First on heavy cardstock, I stamped my Print Pattern bg stamp with clear embossing ink (versamark) and then put on clear embossing powder and heat embossed it. So, I found out that apparently acrylic paint gets old! LOL Mine was extra thick and so after I put three colors of the paint over my embossed bg, and spread it with a craft stick, then scrape paint off with a piece of hard plastic until design shows through.
Well, I scraped some of the paper off! Anyway, I thought it was a failure and left it overnight. Then after church I came down and looked at it. This was three aquas, but they look green now! So it looked like a Christmas card to me. So I had these two die cuts sitting from another time and sat them on there, and decided with the ribbon, it would make another needed Christmas card. So the wreath is over where I scraped paper off! LOL So next time I will try a different batik; there are several different ways to do it. Thank you Melody! New thing learned!
Thanks for looking!

I was thinking harlequin type tiles were interesting choice for batik. The botanical wreath is a nice counterpoint to the geometrical background. Good save.
Thanks for playing in VSN 2015

This turned out great. I wouldn't have thought to use a geometric pattern for the batik, but I like it. And just FIY, you can usually thin acrylic paint with water.

Oh hurrah - someone else who had a problem with this technique. I thought it was just me - I tried it ages ago when Dina first posted the tutorial, and I was finding that the paper scraped off for me too. I think your background turned out beautifully - and a perfect colour for setting that wreath on. This is a colour combination I just love.

Sharon, I love how your batik background turned out. And I love die cut sentiments............they can be situated anywhere without hiding any elements of the card.
