Lydia is taking us to Russia for the last leg of our amazing trip around the world. I remember seeing the movie Nicholas & Alexandra when I was 16 years old. I still remember the beautiful jewels and gowns and the amazing architecture...this was before the really tragic ending of course.
Here is my take on an exotic golden feather. The background was made by dunking cardstock in a puddle of Dylsuions Ink Spray, Izink and lots of water. Quickly dry with heat gun. Once dry, stamp on the feather with versamark, then heat emboss with gold powder. I added a bit more blue to the feather with a Derwent Inktense pencil.
I couldn't get the gold twine to stick to the embossed feather, so I pierced 2 tiny holes on either side of the bow, threaded very fine gold thread through the holes and tied the bow in place. Adhere panel to white card base. This card took 35 minutes to make and probably twice as long to photograph LOL. The feather looks great in real life, but the embossing looks a bit dodgy in the picture.
Even though this is the last challenge for our trip "Around The World In 80 Days" you can still join in, just upload your cards before 10pm EST on Saturday 19th Dec. You can view details of all VSN challenges here .

I know that stamp! It's a golden feather! Like magic - with so much texture and depth. Love the blue touches to bring out elements of the design and jewels! Beautiful.

This reminds me so much of a card from you that I have just taken off the mantelpiece for Christmas. What a beautiful feather. The added blue to it is amazing - you say just Inktense pencil, but it gives me the feel of enamelling.

Just stunning, Susie. You could be a designer for the royal court. I went to an art exhibit called "the royal cabinet" that contained the dishes of the Russian Czars....This would have been the hit of the show. The gold embossing and bling look beautiful with your gorgeous bg.

Susie, this is stunning. I'm sure it was beautiful with just the embossed feather, and the addition of the blue accents, the bling and gold thread make this a showstopper!

Exquisite, Susie! I am a devotee of things Faberge(even got to hold a REAL piece in my hand once and flew to San Diego to see 24 of the Imperial eggs). You have captured the feeling of exquisite craftsmanship and mastery of enameling in your beautiful card.
