I've been seeing such pretty memes on fb with Christmas themes. When I saw today's color scheme I knew I wanted to go with a silhouette scene. I started with a piece of watercolor paper and Baja reinker mixed with water. I laid down a color wash over the whole piece and then added more drops to strengthen the color. I used my thumb to "mask" off an area to later stamp the star. Somehow I don't have navy reinker so I used the ink pad lid to grab the darker color for my hills. Without the stamp I pretty much matched the hills! I dried between layers of color and used a sponge to add more Navy to the bottom, edges and into the sky. Once I had the piece ready I placed it into my MISTI because I knew it would be hard to get a really good silhouette. Man was I right. I think my Navy pad needs reinking and now I know that I don't have the reinker for it! Anyway, stamped multiple times and finally ended up adding a bit of water onto the stamp which then "filled in" the ink better. I ended up with a blob over Bethlehem so I took a cloth and daubed off the excess. I liked the way it looked so I daubed over the camels too. I stamped my star in White. The other thing I love about the MISTI is getting straight sentiments...nothing worse than spending TONS of time on a bg and then messing it up at the last point with the sentiment. My sentiment sticker is a bit crooked too so I'm glad I stamped onto a piece of paper first to make sure it was actually straight! I also stamped the sentiment twice to get it good and dark against the night sky. My gold is really hard to detect, but I have some homemade shimmer spray with Gold PearlEx added in. This has a pretty shimmer IRL.
