This is for Robin's fun Free for All challenge - Fall Colors (said in my best American accent), which is translated to Autumn Colours in my normal Aussie accent.
This was made by colouring watercolour paper with distress inks and bucket loads of water. Unfortunately it dried about 10 shades lighter than I was hoping for.
Next step was to drip a green reinker at the top of the paper, blast it with a water sprayer (big spray, not mist), then holding the paper upright, let the inky water run down the paper.
I then repeated this process using an orange re-inker, starting about 1/3rd from the top. Finished by dripping red re-inker 2/3rds from the top.
I then punched out a gazillion leaves, folded each leaf in a few places and scrubbed the fold with distress ink using a dauber.
Leaves were then adhered to a cardboard circle. Die cut bird on branch from a left over piece of alfoil adhered to card (and coloured with copic markers).

Susie, it is very humbling to be onba design team with 2 people as talented as you and Robin. I always wish I had made your sampke or Robin's. This is so creative and gorgeous. The way you made the leaves is just amazing. The leaf wreath alone is stunning, but when you add that wonderful bird on the branch, it is just out of this world. I bet everyone on SCS want's one on their door for Thanksgiving. Pinned and faved.

Oh Wow - do I love this. What a great idea - lots of patience needed here too. The colours are absolutely beautiful - love all the different shades of Autumn. When are you going to open shop - I guess I will have to get in a queue to buy one of these wreaths.

Beautiful wreath! I love your gorgeous color variations and your technique description sounds so exciting! Fun, fun, fun! I wish my techniques were this cool! Mine are more like: I rubbed some ink on the paper and didn't like it so I rubbed on some more. Yours sound like adventures. Wonderful creation Susie. Hugz

FANTASTIC!!! Your arms and fingers must be bandaged from all the cutting and spritzing of your gazillion leaves, Susie. My oh my, what a wreath tho'. Where do we place our orders and do you take US $s? : )
Everything you create is a CREATION...all in capital letters. Even though you are in spring now, you'll be set with home decor when fall rolls around next year.

GORGEOUS fall wreath, Susie! LOVE the inky autumn colors and your little bird. I think that every card or project you make is an amazing work of heart art! Just a couple of days ago I said to my Mum 'I wish I had a nicer wreath for my door.' Yours would look great but I am not as ambitious as you, cutting, creasing and distressing a gazillion leaves to make my own. Come next autumn, this wreath will look terrific as part of your decor. Thanks for the tip on folding the leaves to make the creases. Never thought of that. Whenever I want crease lines for dimension, I use a ball stylus on a foam pad and if you have many pcs to crease, it is tedious and takes a long time. I'm going to try folding them next time.
