For yesterday's IC, Audrie took us to a Shells Pinterest board. She wanted one last summer/beachy hoo-rah but my mind went "flakey" and I ended up with a winter card! We are having an Indian summer with the temp going as high as 80 tomorrow so why I was thinking "winter" who knows? Hee! My card is also for last Friday's F4A294, shades of purple.
My card was inspired by this abalone shell and these blue and purple shells. To make the bkgrd, as usual, I started with the light to dark distress inks, I pressed or swiped them onto my Ranger non-stick mat. Misted or sprinkled water on them. Pressed, swiped or dragged and moved paper in/on the ink several times. When I got the coverage I liked for the first color (purples were first today), I lightly blotted them with a rag, then dried with my heat gun. I did the same with the pinks. After drying, I used a Ranger mini distress tool to add the blues over top. Used my fingers to sprinkle on water, let sit to spread a little, lightly blotted, then dried with heat tool. For this card, to try to get some of the silver of the abalone shell, I added some silver distress Stickles, applying with my finger, then blending with my rag. Let air dry. Sadly, you can't see the bit of silver sparkle in the picture. You can see the silver snowflakes, coat buttons, heart pin, and the silver stripe on her socks. Mounted to my card base.
Stamped MFT PI, colored with Prisma watercolor pencils + blended w/SU blender pen, Sakura gelly roll pen and silver Sharpie. Partial cut with QK tag die.
Cut glitzy silver snowflakes and trees. Added trees to tag, positioned on card. Adhered snowflakes, then tag, stamped snow swirls.
Thanks for looking!

Gorgeous background and I love the way your little girl's scarf matches it! Sweet card....I like the way you have your tag perched between the two trees!

What a beautiful card. Love that background - yes it does remind me of an abalone shell. I used to collect them on the beach when I was a kid - its a lot rarer to find one now though. Winter - brrrrr.
