Vicki is our hostess in the Color Challenge today, and she has given us three “challenging” colors: Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Calypso Coral. The dessert option is to use sequins on our cards.
I finally tackled a shaker card, after seeing such cute ones all over the Internet. IÂ’ll bet I hold the record for the most hours spent making one card! To me, these colors said Halloween, and the birds with their crazy things were a perfect project to try. Elements of this card were inspired by a card designed by Richele Christensen. I stamped in VersaFine Black Onyx, sprinkled with clear embossing powder, heat set, and then fussy cut the bird and hat, broom and pumpkin with my Silhouette Portrait. I did need to do a little extra cutting with a craft knife and scissors. Then I painted with my Zig markers; they are such fun! I made a second bird, cut out the wings, beak and eyes, to make my guy more 3-D. Crystal Effects on his eyes, just to add to the craziness!
Then I went about making the shaker part. I used a black marker to draw the spider, and added the white eyes with Enamel Accents. Also used that product for the two white beads on either side of the greeting. ItÂ’s my favorite new (to me) product!
I must say, I think this card is worth all the time it took me, which was approximately all day!
