I saw the Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A277 6/12/15, to make a card that incorporates the letters of the month, JUNE. This was the inspiration for the Father's Day card I made for my dad.
Here is the way I made JUNE appear in this card:
J - jute twine
U - unusual use of a die. I used a portion of an octagon die to cut the top corners of the folded card base to make it a tag shaped card.
N - Noble Deer stamp set by SU
E - extra long card! This card is 6 1/4" x 4 1/2" when folded and 6 1/4" x 13 1/2" when opened.
The most complicated part of this card was coming up with the way to make the accordion style card base. I got the inspiration for the card from Emma Fewkes out of the UK. She posted a photo of a card she had made using SU Wetlands - it was gorgeous! Here is a link to her blogpost: http://ladynthestamp.blogspot.com/se...max-results=12
She didn't share any instructions on how to make the card, so I came up with my own. This ended up being more complicated than expected because I wanted to have a larger card than the standard A2 card.
Here are the deets on the measurements, in case you want to try making one.
The folded card measures 6/1/4" by 4/1/2", so I cut the card base 13 1/2" long x 6 1/4" high. Score the card base at 4 1/2" and 9", and then fold it with mountain fold and then valley fold. Use a bone folder to make nice, crisp folds.
To get the nice tag top, I used the largest octagon die in the Lifestyle Crafts set of dies. I slipped the folded card base into the die, wth the die set at the top of card so that it only cut the corners. NOTE: only die cut the top part, do not run the entire card through the machine or you will ruin it! Hope this makes sense....of course a normal stamper would just use scissors and cut the top corners off, but I digress! ha....
The stamped panels were so fun to do. I combined several different stamps and stamp sets to create the scenes on the panels. All of the images were stamped with Versafine black ink and heat embossed with clear detail powder. I applied the ink with sponge daubers and eye-shadow sponges. Sponging is a quick and easy way to do animals and I've found that it is much more forgiving than copics or watercolors.
Thanks for stopping by to look at my accordion style tag card. Maybe you will try one, they are lots of fun to make and totally cool when put on display!

Wow! This is awesome! It's going straight into my favs. Thank you for sharing all the instructions. I might try this after summer break. You used great stamps for this. Your colors are outstanding for the images and for a masculine card. The "shipping tag" look is so appropriate for the style; I like the little brown circles over the punched out circles at the top. Great job with the JUNE challenge. Fabulous card. So glad to have see this one! TFS

Not only do I appreciate the cool factor with your tag design, I have kept this set forever. It's one of my favorite masculine sets so bravo that you pulled it out recently.
