This funky covered wagon retirement card was made for the Ways To Use It Challenge, WT535 - Go West! (6/11/15). The challenge was to make a western themed card to honor John Wayne, who rode off into the sunset on June 11, 1979.
When I looked around my stamp room for inspiration for a western themed card, reminiscent of John Wayne, I spied some bookmarks that I picked up at a local museum a while back. The bookmark had a photo of a covered wagon with the rough Oregon desert in the background. Perfect for a John Wayne tribute card!!!! Is that cool or what?!
I cut the top and bottom off of the bookmark and layered it on black cardstock. To add a rustic, burlap feel to the card, I used SU Natural Trim Ribbon as a sentiment panel. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink and allowed it to throughly dry before trimming and adding to the card front. The covered wagon panel was popped up with demensionals and placed over the layers of wood fence dp and ribbon.
I thank you kindly for sauntering by to view my covered wagon card. Happy Trails to you....until we meet again!

Susy, what a brilliant retirement card, that wagon rolling off says it all. The wood background suits it perfectly too. Such inspired recycling of your bookmark.
