My middle son, Ryan, was in an automobile accident in 2006 when he was 21 years old. He was a belted passenger in a car that went off the road into a 9" ditch and right into a tree. Among many internal serious injuries. Ryan suffered a traumatic brain injury and I felt compelled to scrapbook his recovery, mostly for him as he doesn't remember a whole lot of what happened.
When Ryan was discharged from Rehab, he had seven months of 'Day Treatment' which just means he went 3 days a week for more therapy. They were just as tough on him during Day Treatment as they were when he was in house. These pages are brighter in color yet. The pictures are of the therapists who helped Ryan heal further, in all aspects of normal everyday 'life'. We went to lunch where he had to pay for the meal, exchange money and receive change. He was outside stacking bricks in a wheelbarrow and wheeling across the yard only to unload them and stack them against a wall, then repeat the whole process. He worked on his speech, his hand/eye coordination, cognitive skills, met with psychiatrists, memory, etc. Pretty much everything we take for granted.
