I actually came up with the nautical pattern on the bottom while in the bathroom at my work. That room is a beach theme, and the center piece in the room is a rope net covered clear bulb lattern with a candle inside of it.
So I used the diagonal rope stamp in last month's paper pumpkin kit, along with the MISTI, to create the criss-Cross pattern.
I used two different circle framelits (one slightly smaller than 2 1/2", one slightly bigger) to create the porthole. I cut two rings, one out of gray, one out of Night of Navy. I punched the holes into the blue ring, layering the gray behind.
It's hard to see, but I used smoky slate for the gorgeous grunge stamping on the base (I don't have Basic Gray ink pad right now), so it tends to be really light when using the lighter gray.
