I used a gel print from my file as the base for this card, then set to work roughing it up just a little. I'm not sure that what I did was a gel medium transfer, but that's what gave me the idea. I spread gel medium over the panel, stuck a piece of graph paper onto it and burnished it until it started to dry, then pulled it off. Some of the grid stayed stuck, which gives continuity to the full panel. I did the same with a scrap of red paper, just to add a little contrast. The poppy image is from Unity Stamps - I stamped it on graph paper and then colored each square with Prismacolor pencils, beginning with my darkest blues in the areas that I would shade, and working up and out with lighter colors as I went along. I used Distress Stains to darken the lower portion of the panel (not sure how that worked, but it did somehow), and scribbled in more details of the flower with a ball point pen. That's all I know! I'll have it on my blog tomorrow if you want to check back.
