Wow talk about a pressure!! Peggy (jasonw1) aka Queen of Drop Dead Gorgeous Monochromatic Masterpieces, is hosting this weeks Teaparty along with Sheri and our guest of honour is Pam aka yorkiemoma...none other than the the Die-Cut Diva herself!!
Our challenge is to bring layer upon layer, unfortunately layers means serious postage dollars. I remember my first ever Teapot Tuesday card cost almost $13 to post, so I learnt after that to tone it down a bit so it costs around $3 a card. I love making stair-steps for international post as depth can be achieved without adding "thickness" to an envelope.
As Pam is a Splitcoastie, she will know to foof (I think that is a word) up the butterfly wings and tweek the little flowers a bit after their long voyage. Lots of dies were used here, including a a RAK flourish die from Peggy. The Spellbinder gate die is a dream to use now, also thanks to Peggy who sent me the video about using dryer sheets on stubborn dies.
The diecut tree and butterflies on the backstep are adhered to a piece of acetate, so is the lower trunk of the tree at the front. The tree at the front is a die with a border around it - I just lopped off the border and only used the tree. I embossed a scrap of the metalic cardstock with the Swiss Dots EF, then used a couple of ancient EK Success punches - it is nice to know that some tools never date...unlike their owner!
I made the stairstep base and folded all the steps before embossing it. Whilst I had a lot of fun making this, I was itching to use some colour. My inner Peggy told my inner Susie to be quiet and just have a glass of red wine and not to add colour to the card. That worked, oh I should mention I made this late last night...I didn't have wine with my brekkie!!
Thank you for looking and have a great week ladies.
P.S. I am hosting next weeks Teaparty. If you would like a cheater email for next weeks challenge, PM me your email address and I will send it to you next Saturday USA time.

First of all I couldn't believe that this was a Susie card and thought I must have clicked on the wrong card - no colour. Stunning - and not even a red wine stain on it. Love looking at all the details. I understand what you say about postage - have just sent a very "unlayered" card to Canada and was charged $8 for the effort and it is only going to get worse after April! But you don't mind when you are sending it to "special" people who really appreciate the home made cards.

LOL, I know my butterfly will need some TLC after the long journey too. And like you, I reckoned it would get it. Susie, this is fabulous - a little magical, enchanted garden scene.
