This is one of the cards I made for day one of the OCC Stretch Your Dies class. Today's focus was word dies. This technique was referred to as On The Edge, Where the word die creates a flap for the top of the card to tuck behind.
We were told that block letter word dies work better for the technique, but this is the biggest, boldest word die I own and I wanted to give it a shot. I love the way it looks, but it is a little bit of a PITA to tuck the flap behind the centers of the letters. I thought about cutting them out, but I don't think the flap would stay closed if I did that. I have a smaller Block letter die that I may play with later.
The top flap was stamped using a Hero Arts background stamp in Soft Pool, then again with VersaMark when the first stamping was dry. I embossed with silver ep.
The bottom flap was partially die cut with the word die, and the sentiment stamped and embossed. I cut the die twice more, once from heavy cs and once from silver mirror cs. These were layered onto the partial die cut and the top flap tucked behind.
As always, Thanks for looking!

Wow, that soft stamping of the pale pool color behind the silver embossing looks FANTASTIC for the top of the card! The silver diecut of "thanks" really pops above the stark white on the bottom. I am wondering if you could show another picture of how this opens - not sure I understood from the above description - really a gorgeous card, Jo!!!

You should be teaching this class! WOW, what ingenuity to cut into the lower flap! I figured cutting that top flap would be hard enough and you even used script! Love this card and the sparkly lettering!

LOL I had to google PITA....you are sooo funny Jody!!! Now about your card...fabulous!! I love the technique and the great colours. I don't know how you find time and imagination to do all this and your DD cards. I am looking forward to strolling through the DD gallery tomorrow.
