This card meets three challenges: F4A263 "Sheltering Friends" - make a card featuring a tree/trees, MIX110 "POP IT UP" - create a project/card that is Popped Up (I stretched it a bit here), and IC483, to be inspired by one of the beautiful pieces of art from greatBigcanvas.com.
My inspiration photo can be found HERE.
The background was created from a gold napkin and a plain piece pink paper that had a little distressing. I sponged white ink through a damask stencil onto the pink paper before stamping Heidi Swapp's Script Background stamp in Memento Desert Sand, stamped off once. Next I stamped the Faded Text background in Colorbox gild and embossed with clear ep. The white pigment ink caught some of the ep, so there are parts of the damask pattern that are embossed. It looks very cool! I used an the Doily Lace punch to create an edge and layered this piece over a strip of gold napkin that I had adhered to the base with Mod Podge. The napkins have a gorgeous embossed damask pattern, but most of that was lost when I put it on the card base.
The IO tree was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with gold ep. I added cherry blossoms by dotting pink rose and clear Gelly Roll Stardust pens in the tree canopy. I also added a few gold dots with a Gelly Roll Metallic pen.The image was overstamped with the text stamp using VersaMark Dazzle (frost) and embossed with clear ep. It was then embossed using an SB embossing frame and trimmed to size. Its mounted on a matching craft foam base. After reading the MIX challenge more thoroughly, I'm pretty sure this isn't what MariLynn had in mind, but it is what it is, and I love the way it turned out!
As always, thanks for looking!

I am fascinated but the ideas of all the steps you used to create this! What beautiful work on that pink designer paper and love that you embossed over the image. I was just wondering how you got pink in that tree before I read your description! This is fabulous, Jo and thanks for always describing your process!

Such a lot of steps in the process of making this stunning card - love the overstamping on the pink doily-looking BG piece, against the gold - looks fabulous with all the blossoms on the tree - great thinking, on your process - so many steps, yet you make it look effortless!!

How did I ever miss this beauty in the gallery? It is just stunning, Jody. I can see the embossing on the gold napkin... it must be amazing in person. The pink bg piece is a technique homerun. You really combined steps to make an eye catching bg panel. An outstanding card. Right into my favs.
