Wow talk about pressure, this week our Teapotter cards are going to Dave, the DH of none other than the wonderful Julie Gearinger. Can you imagine how many spectacular and jaw dropping cards Dave has seen!!! Making a card for Dave is a bit like inviting Heston Blumenthal for dinner. Thank goodness I am better at making cards than I am at cooking. When I was twelve, I accidentally poisened my brothers after cooking pork, they were only in hospital for 4 days, so it was no big deal, but that is a story for another day.
Our challenge this week was to bring a Bald Eagle.....I found an eagle image on line, I printed him EIGHTEEN times and every time I coloured and fussy cut him, he looked more and more like a woodpecker than and eagle...not that I have ever seen a woodpecker, that's one more creature we don't have in Australia. Thank goodness for cartoons and Walt Disney, these educational TV shows taught us Aussies about Woody Woodpecker, skunks, squirrels and reindeers and a whole lot more.
In my head this card was going to be a beautiful eagle in full flight, instead we have a couple of bird watchers hidden amoungst the reeds (can you see their googley eyes) and one bird watcher having a little nap!! Our napping birdwatcher started out life as a Sassy Cheryl digi image, the reeds are a Stampin Up stamp and the little birds and trees are from Inkadinkado. The bird and fence on the second step is a Unity Stamp.
The background is the usual smack & squirt and the layout is an extra wide stair step card. All of the colouring was done with distress inks (no markers or pencils).
I had lots of fun making this, thank you for looking and have a great week everyone.

Susie, Susie, you need never have worried about Dave appreciating one of your cards, and this one is a stunner. It reminds me of the reed beds in a bird reserve we visited when we were camping in France a couple of yeas back. There was a raised wooden walkway through them to the hide. I love the Unity bird - and I didn't even try eagles either. I realise I have one stamp with an eagle, but it's one that I always struggle to make a card I like with.

What an awesome card..Dave will be blown away! I love the hammock and the bg with the eyes peeking out. You are so inventive!! And I always seem to find something I don't know from your stories..had to google Heston B....never heard of him..guess I'm never too old to learn new (and important??) facts.

This morning when I spotted your new card I immediately put it in my FAV.
I just came back home and finally having more time to look at it, this so reminds me of my dad when we where Down Under. The first thing he did was make a hammock, not as sturdy as yours I must say, just a few hours after he build it the hammock came down and took halve the fence with it! Needles to say mum wasn't very impressed with his handiwork and the hammock never came back up again. As for your card it's ADORABLE especially the googly eyes, they give the whole card a humorous and cheerful touch. Your background colours again are outstanding.
TFS, LOVE IT!!!!

If this doesn't put Dave in hysterics, I don't know what could!! He will probably identify with the napping birdwatcher since he already does not get enough sleep to do all he does, in tandem with getting the chemo!
My guess is that your card will be one of his favorites, since you not only displayed the beauties of nature, but combined it with your terrific sense of humor with the googlie eyed birdwatchers hiding in the reeds! Your background SnS technique has created a beautiful sky and I love how the birds on the tree branches and fence also seem to be watching for the eagles' appearance!
Another great creation, my sweet friend - thanks for the laughs too!!

Oh Susie, my first read of the day and best as smiling and laughing at your story--laughter is good for the soul they say and of course--face--gives you less wrinkles than frowning. Such a cute card and Dave will love love it, cannot choose where to start so saying everything is great--from your birds to the bird watchers, your backgrounds--you name it but do tell your sleeping bird watcher to be careful or an eagle may swoop down and snatch him up.

Susie, this is such a hoot! I have to agree with you about sending a card that will be anywhere near one of Julie's creations - I found it a little unsettling myself. You, however, have nothing to worry about! This is creative genius, and I know it will lift Dave's spirits immediately! Fabulous fun!
