This is my card for the teapot party this week. We are sending cards to Dave, husband of our own Julie Gearinger. Dave has been maintaining a 70-80 hour work week while going through chemo, and could use some cheering up. Our challenge was to bring eagles, so I thought Dave might enjoy this photograph taken by my BIL when my husband and I joined him and my SIL on an Alaskan cruise. The layout is based on last week's sketch, flipped on its end.
I die cut the background layer, stamped it with VersaMark, embossed with clear ep and attached to the card base. The patterned paper was die cut and layered onto the card. I had already printed the photo on photo paper and diecut the tag. Since I have absolutely nothing (hard to believe!) that I could use at the top of the tag, I cut a thin strip of cs to fit through the hole and snipped lengthwise to form fringe. I attached the tag to the card front with Sookwang tape and stapled across the fringe with a gold staple. That looked terrible, so I took it out and left holes in the card front. SO I added a few stitches across my paper "fibers". Yes, stitches. By hand. Me! What is the world coming to? I blame it on Nancy (stiz2003), LOL! Actually, I hate the way the paper fringe looks, but I really do like the way the stitching looks, even if it isnt EXACTLY straight.
I die cut the feathers, shaped them and edged them with Colorbox gold ink (the ends of the paper fringe were brushed with gold ink also.) They were stacked and placed on the card with matte Multi Medium.
The picture of the photo tag looks a little strange - the actual tag is much clearer. I enjoyed the memories; I hope Dave enjoys his card!
As always, thanks for looking!
P.S. - I posted this in the wrong gallery - so sorry!

Wow, that is an awesome picture - I was unaware of a chance to photograph the eagle sup close and personal When I went, so the pictures I am sending Dave leave a lot to be desired - NO, they were not good enough to use on a card!!
Love the tag adaptation on your card, along with the wonderfully masculine papers, but I really flipped over the idea of using the feathers!! and I LOVE your stitching too!!Great card!!

HOW lucky to get such an incredible photo of an eagle! WOW, what a thrill and to be able to use it on this encouragement card so well! I love the tag and the fringe, even though you are not happy with it. Stitching it down to cover the holes was brilliant! The added feathers, PERFECTION! Love this card!

that must ahve been sooo neat to see an eagle like that justas if we saw like a robin or something...LOVE how you made it inot a card front....beautiful. Your fringe turned out awesome...sometimes I have had some ribbon that started to fray like that but this is neater, especially for a guy card...Dave will totally LOVE this as well....TFS...:0)

What a very cool card, Jody. The tag looks like leather and the fringe looks like it is made from suede. The stitching is tertific. What a great idea to send Dave a real photo ofvan eagle.
