I decided to try the mixed media challenge today. I have to say I am definitely out of my element on this. I have different kinds of gesso and gels. Hmmmm, not sure exactly where and how to use them, but my motto is, "Nothing Ventured-Nothing Gained" so I just muddled through this challenge. I am just a muddler, what can I say? ~grin~ I had some brown paper that came with something I ordered-I seem to hang on to all kinds of things-just in case I find a use for them. The paper had wrinkles, but I figure it gives it character. I attached the brown paper to white card stock. I put trans-gesso over the paper and dried it with my heat gun. Next I used acrylic paints to paint over the top, dried it and sppnged a little distress ink over that. I used my IO limb branch die to make a stencil so I could stencil the limb and branches on the paper. I used an old SU watercolor mini stamp set to make the berries. Maybe I should say I smeared them on. I used my IO bird die to make yellow birds and sponged ink over them. I used the white gel pen to make their wings. Here is the card I cased for the challenge: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1787189...y-tree-akebono
Now I am off to clean. My dh has been off work this week due to the weather, I have made cards all week so he knows how I spend my days, I want him to know that occasionally I do clean. Ugh-card making is more fun.

This is SO cool Shirley!! I love the background - so dreamy. The texture and wrinkles really helped to make it special. I love the birds and the way you drew in their feathers with the gel pen. You did fabulous on this challenge. I find myself working extra hard to do this challenge when I think it should flow more. Oh well.

Great texture on this one, Shirt! Very clever of you to make a stencil from a die you own - one less stencil to buy - good thinking!!
Ninety one to go!!!!! Hugs -

Great job of CASEing your inspiration piece! The wrinkles added to the texture. The MIX challenges are the most difficult for me, but it sure helps us stretch our imaginations.
