I keep working on mixed media but, boy, is it hard for me!
Today's Mixability challenge is "Sentiment Mash-Up" - to create a sentiment from two sources. I'm inviting a friend out for high tea for her 50th birthday so combined sentiments for the invitation.
My mixed media is embossing paste and ink, with a bit of fiber in the ribbon. The tea pot and tea cup stamps were in a discount bin. They have a sort of retro-look to me, as does the cubist stencil. I tried to pick retro-ish colours in the olive green and turquoise blue for the background - sponged randomly over the stencil with them, and when dry, replaced the stencil and went over it with translucent embossing paste. A bit of the ink from sponging got under the stencil so, after the embossing paste was dry, I lightly sponged the two colours all over the background.
When I came to stamp my images, I grabbed the wrong blue ink pad so the cups and part of the sentiment are stamped in a different blue to the background (which hadn't been my intention). I die cut the sentiment with a Spellbinders tag and the image with a Spellbinders label. Added ribbon to the tag and popped them up on dimensionals.

Fantastic background! I love those shiny squares and rectangles in green and blue. Back in the day I had a dress with just those colours and that pattern! ...and believe me that really makes it retro for sure! I'm a big fan of tea cups and pots in stamping so this card has it all for me. Lovely!

Susan, your bg is fabulous! I love the shiny embossing paste, and sponging the color over the whole thing just works! Wonderful invitation to a wonderful event!
