These two backgrounds look almost the same, I used 8 distress inks (plus walnut stain) on the right hand card and only 4 on left hand card (plus walnut stain)....the difference is water!!
Full description of the process and the colours for the right hand card is here .
For the card on the left I did the smack and squirt technique in the order shown below, using two smacks of each colour side by side, squirted a LOT of water on the first inky square and not so much on the second one.
These are the colours I used..
bright green - Mowed lawn
yellowy orange - Wild honey
hot pinkish red - Festive berries
purple - Seedless preserves
Both fairies are stamped using Versafine, so is all the foliage on the left hand card. The right hand card background is Archival - not as black, but in real life it looks better as a softer background. Both fairies are pitch black, but they look a bit different here in the photo.
I was almost swinging from the chandelier to get the fairies to stamp properly (that is not entirely true, we don't have a chandelier, but you know what I mean). I am patiently waiting for my MISTI stamping tool to arrive!! I almost forgot, silver stickles were lightly applied here and there.
I hope everyone is having a great week and thank you for looking.

How funny, we're all waiting for our MISTI's to arrive. Suzie, they're beautiful cards, I love the dreamy look to both of them, I especially love the white flowers around the head of the one on the right

The look of your BGs here is mesmerizing! What a wonderful image you have in this sweet fairy! Love the extra pizzazz of the gel pen white and the silver stickles to give your card a true "fairy magic" look! Those "misty clouds" floating across the first card's moon are magical!
When you mentioned the Festive Berries, the Seedless Preserves and the Wild Honey, I thought you had gone back to raid the kitchen cabinets once again!!
This was a real treat to look at, Susie!

WOW! Right into favorites! You have such a talent for creating the drama in your scene with your use of color! Your blending is always so beautifully done as the colors graduate from one shade to the next! I am just mesmerized by the effects you achieve with your own technique! The image is gorgeous with so much detail in the wings! WOW, amazing work!

What amazing colors! I really wish you would do video tutorial on your technique; as well as you've explained it (more than once, I know) SOME of us can't follow written instructions too well, LOL! I love both cards, but the one on the right would have to be my favorite, I just love the ribbons in her hair and the softer bg images.

Very pretty! I love them both! Love how you do that smack and squirt thing...I tried it without much success in fact no success! Heehee! Oh well, this technique seem to be entirely your own! Love it though, you will have to come over and show me how...I'm one of those visual learners! So come on, come over!

Such stunning cards Susie! I love how you have given us a side by side view of them both and the technique details on both. Thank you! I love your beautiful fairy and the dainty stickles to give it just the right shine.

AWESOME cards Susie!
Love how you did the BG's, I will have to try that technique some day. The little touches of white and glitter makes them magical. They are a delight to look at.

You certainly know how to create magical cards...I immediately thought of fireflies on a moonlit night. Your colors ROCK and your image is truly amazing. GREAT job!
