It usually takes me about 1 month to forget a crafting major fail. The Gelli plate people must know this, because every month a new gelli plate tutorial arrives in my inbox. If anyone is familiar with the definition of insanity, it has to do with trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. That is the story of me and my gelli plate. So, after being inspired by a tutorial, I ended up with an ugly piece of cardstock that looked nothing like the one in the video, and paint on my shoe, jeans, hair and even on Dolly the insomniac dog - she thought she would try to help and put her nose where it didn't belong. I had invested too much time to toss my bkg piece so I went to plan "B".... throw everything onto the cardstock and hope something works. That is actually my definition of mixed media. First I covered half of the panel with a baroque stencil and added modeling paste. I sponged raspberry ink over the raised areas. Distressed the edges, rolled them and glued them in this rolled position with glitter glue. Added the die cut flowers and a bow, plus some liquid pearl dots. This is a monochromatic mixed media card for the MIX104. I was inspired by the photo that had hearts tumbling out of a cake. My flowers are tumbling out of the card. I also had some white like the plate in the photo. I am returning my gelli plate to its usual place - burried in the back of the coat closet. TFL, Francie

LOL, I have so been there on the "invested too much time to scrap it" road. A great save, Francie - I really like the stencilling with the pearls and sparkle.

Another beautiful mixed media! What a great save on this one Francie! The die you chose is SO perfect with this in black and the added glitter and pearls look wonderful!
That ribbon is gorgeous too!
I can relate to the gelli too! Fun as it is, my success rate is about 5%! Never thought to use modeling paste over it! Brilliant idea!

I actually really like your gelli bg..but I get what you mean...it's kind of hit and miss with that thing..I signed up for a tutorial and so far have only done 1 lesson....I will do anther this week! Probably. I like your techinique of throw everything you've got into a card...I usually forget what I've done. This looks wonderful whatever you threw into it..lol

That's exactly the way I feel about my Gelli Plate, Francie! But I think YOUR Gelli must work better than mine, because this card ROCKS! I love it!

I came to splitcoast LOOKING for a way to save a gelli disaster. I will take a before and after shot. My intention right now is that, when i muster up courage again, I'm totally caseing this!

I like the finished card. You must have thrown in the right stuff at the end. I sympathize. My gelli prints never turn out. I get one good one out of 50 or more of mud/ugly/grunge/unbalanced looking stuff.
