The background was painted with distress paints. I removed the dauber and used a brush. The image was stamped and all the parts that were to be colored were painted with gesso. Pencil blends so well over gesso making this fun to color. The snowflake has wink of stella on it but the scan wasn't going to pick that up. Tiny 2mm nailheads were added for interest and edges were sponged a bit darker. Thanks for stopping by.

Such a LOVELY stamp Nancy! I have never seen this one before. The background is amazing on this and the coloring of the image just has me in awe. LOVE the added sponging on edges and the addition of the nail heads for added interest is the cherry on top! Pure wonderfulness...

Oh my goodness, another jaw dropper Nancy. I didn't know pencils worked over gesso, mind you, you could make pencils work and look stunning on any surface!! I love the painted background and your itty bitty nailheads. Everything about this card is wonderful my friend.

Love this! I have got to try this technique - it's gorgeous! Beautiful image - I haven't seen it before. I sure wish you'd plan a trip to Texas so you could demonstrate all this loveliness!

I still have my bottle of gesso unopened! Every time I read one of your card making descriptions I get closer to giving it a try. I didn't know you could pencil over it! That may be the thing that pushes me to use it. This is a gorgeous image. Your distressed background looks like it was designed to go with this stamp. Your holly is beautifully coloured. The tiny railheads add a hint of sparkle. Totally incredible card! TFS
