I always send my parents a "happy new year" card so today's Free for All challenge "Holiday Twist" (any holiday except Christmas or Hanukkah) spurred me on to get it made. My mother loves the flocks of winter birds that sit in her snowy shrubs, so I used that as my theme.
I stamped my branch stamp in Versamark, heat embossed it with a sparkly white ep, and then sponged various blues over it. I wanted to incorporate silver in the card as I always think of silver as the New Year's Eve colour, so I spritzed with my brand new Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter spray and bordered the panel with silver. I die cut several little birds out of shimmery white cs and scattered them in the branches and sky.

Love this New Year's card with the frosty feeling and all the birds sitting in the trees/bushes, Susan. Lovely choice of colors to convey this icy feeling.

This is absolutely delightful! It reminds me of the times at our old house when a swarm of cedar waxwings would be migrating through our area. We had one tree that was just loaded with these beautiful birds each year. And then they were gone. But a few always did hang around, and as I would see one or two during the season it would bring to mind the fantastic experience of seeing so very many in one place. Thanks for the reminder.
