Oh my, looks like this lovely couple is expecting a baby. I'm sure many of you will recognize Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. I loved to watch this show back in the day and have probably seen all the episodes several times. Inspiration for these art dolls comes from the endearing episode when Lucy surprises Ricky that she is expecting a baby. One of the sweetest moments in television history in my opinion. Take a look at this sweet video clip - "We're having a baby, my baby and me."
Upper Body and Arms - Covered with a generous layer of specialty paint called Prisme Fantasy Paint by Pebeo. This paint works like magic and forms the circle pebble-like look as it dries. I thought it resembled the look of mermaid scales perfectly. Special thanks to my friend, Mary Ann, who told me about this paint. I'm still amazed at the results every time I use it. Thanks Mary Ann!
Ricky's Tail - is covered in a thick layer of pebbles, seashells, flat back pearls, and charms. A generous amount of Glossy Accents is applied and then layered with the largest pieces and then filled in with pebbles. Micro beads and Martha Stewart Glitter are added to fill in the smaller gaps while the glue is still wet.
Lucy's Tail - Fish Scale design was done with glitter paper that is cut with a scallop border die from Amuse Studio. The strips of scallop border strips are glued on one line at a time, each layer overlapping the next - working from the bottom toward the top. Time consuming but worth it. Special thanks to my friend, Claudia, for the inspiration. Claudia's "fish scale technique" was the perfect touch for these mermaids. I really love the look. Thanks Claudia!
Thanks for visiting my gallery today.
I Love Lucy and hope you do too.
