What a gorgeous gallery by America! Such beautiful layering and dimension and gorgeous bows, charms and bling. I noticed she had several very different cards with cardinals. I was inspired to use a fairly new die by this card: Christmas Cardinal, LSC247, FS143 by Cards_By_America at Splitcoaststampers. I thought it would be easy, but nope! Cut a red mat. Cut a rectangle, embossed it and covered all the snowflakes with stickles - set aside to dry. I cut the die 3 times -green, brown, and red velvet. Each time was a test of patience ...even though I used wax paper, it was extremely time consuming teasing the cuts from the die - especially the velvet! I cut out the pine cone and the bird and glued them on top of the pine branches. Cut a bunch of red berries from another die to place on the sprigs and covered them with clear stickles. Assembled. I cannot tell you how challenging it was to get the papers out of that cardinal die. EF: Darice snowflake Trim. Dies: SB/Card Creator Rectangles, CC/Winter Cardinal. Congratulations, America!

I agree that sometimes it so hard to release the paper from the dies. I'm so glad you didn't give up though because this card is beautiful. The diecuts are so pretty and look stunning against the sparkly snowy background.

Isn't it so frustrating at times when the paper refuses to come out - and you have to be so very patient to get it out without tearing it! There has to be an easier way. All your hard work paid off because this wonderful creation. It is just so inspiring and so very delicate.

What beautiful layering of your dies and the velvet looks so luxurious. I too have had a Cottage Cutz die set and had issues. I immediately got rid of it. It was SO worth persevering to create this wonderful tribute to America!

WOW Gorgeous Embossing, sparkle, and use of this fabulous die-cut. WOW! So much work but what a super gorgeous take on my cardinal version. Thank you so much for being so sweet and for playing along on the QFTD. It is so humbling and such an honor. I also have a tip on releasing paper cuts from your dies: use a cotton ball and a little bit of baby powder (the cheapest brand you could find works great) and dab your dies the first time you are going to use them. then use wax paper. This ALWAYS works beautifully with releasing your dies). You don't have to use baby powder every time you use the dies only every so many cuts. Works and helps save loads of time! Promise.
