A week ago today, the Teapotters made cards for Ernie, an older gentleman who is now living at a nursing home and finding it hard to adjust to the change. He is depressed and needs encouragement. I chose one of my favorite Tim Holtz vintage images, thinking Ernie would "relate" to it. In addition to a message of encouragement to Ernie, on the inside I stamped one of my favorite Dyan Reaveley's "line-box" style sentiments that reads:
Until you spread
your wings
you have no idea
how far you'll fly
During my career, I managed a home health office. At another time, I managed multiple senior/disabled living sites. I have loads of stories referencing what Ernie is going through so I typed up "Joe's" story to share with him. It has a happy ending and I hope it gives Ernie hope that IF he focuses and chooses it to be, things will get better with time. From sharing this experience with so many older and even some younger, I know how hard this life change can be. As he takes this next step in his journey, I pray that God will bless his mind to think more clearly, his spirit to be lifted and his heart to heal.
I am also adding my card to the ATS121 challenge gallery.
Thank you for looking!

You are so good at masculine cards, Gabby! That's a super image, it reminds me of photos of my great-grandfather. Having stories you can tell from your own experience is great! I just wrote about how DH used to visit an old friend every week when he had to move from sheltered housing into a nursing home, and how even though it was a train-ride each way, he always valued his time with A. Older people still have a lot to give and to teach us.

Wonderful image and great masculine color combination. Love your layout too. Ernie will love this, Gabby...thanks so much for coming to his Teaparty. Glad that you came, I've been nibbling on all of the fresh cookies all week. You surely have earned all of the extras that you want with your fabulous card and story. Hugz from NJ!

This is such a great image for Ernie. Thank you for sharing life experiences with us as well as Ernie. We are of the age group where this is happening to so many friends, and we cannot help but wonder what is in the future for us. Our daughter is a Phys. ***'st working in nursing homes - she must be practicing for us!!!

Oh Gabby, this is so cool! What a great masculine image! The way you did the layout with not too much color is wonderful (so hard for me to do that!) and your distressed edges are perfect! So glad you played along and made this great card for Ernie!
