This is my card for Dina's Mix-Ability Challenge MIX92 - Put Some Pink On It.
This past summer I played around with some free hand watercoloring. I was so impressed with the free form watercolor florals by Sanketi - The Storyteller that I had to try them myself. I love the look! I put the panel aside on my desk (I'm learning Dina - she smiles) to use for a future project. When I saw the Mix-Ability challenge this morning I knew it was time.
My largest background panel was swiped with gesso and after it dried I stamped SNSS Script Background and sprayed lightly with Goosebumps Shimmer Texture Spray. After it all dried, I the stamped the small white leaf sprigs with Hero Arts Pigment Ink (Unicorn). What a nice white ink this is - great coverage. I softened the edges of the largest panel with some Chalk Ink (Chestnut Roan) and then went over the edge with the Krylon Gold Leaf Pen.
The title of my card is one of the most meaningful of my life. You've heard me talk about many of my dear navy friends. This is a verse I share with one of those friends. When I least expect it I'll receive a text message, or an email, sometimes a voicemail. And the only thing I'll see or hear is: Proverbs 17:17
It always comes when I need it the most - isn't God good that way. One dark, rainy morning in November 2007 I boarded a plane bound from BWI to Phoenix. It was early and I hadn't had any sleep for over 24 hours. My youngest sister had been killed. My heart broken, I was on my way to help in any way I could.
Right before we had to turn off our phones, I heard a text come in. I looked down and saw Proverbs 17:17. As we began our roll out the tears began to flow. It's so true, a friend loveth at all times. She understands, accepts, and shares the burden of your pain, and rejoices in your happiness.
Dina, your challenge is so meaningful today, I love that you included it with our last day of the 2014 HYCCT Challenge. I hope that I'll be considered the kind of friend who stands beside and accepts no matter the circumstance.
As always, thank you for your visit today. I appreciate you.
Hugs,

Oh gosh Susie, what a work of art AND heart!! This is so incredibly, radiantly, beautiful and just breath taking! I just want to keep looking at it! Love the blurred roses and greenery on your sentiment panel! Love the script and foliage on your bg panel and your rose colored 3-d roses are just the right touch for such a beautiful piece. You should frame this my friend!

I subscribe to The Storytellers blog and I have sat in awe through many of her tutorials. I LOVED reading her story. Where as I have just watched you obviously have put to use her tutoring and have created a stunning piece very reminiscent of one of her very own. Your background panel is simply amazing and I am in love with how your various techniques and applications turned into MORE wonderfulness to back your amazing focal piece. The handmade flowers, punched foliage and butterfly complete a wonderfully crafted piece of art. LOVE this!

Oh, Susie! This card is absolutely gorgeous, and I am so touched by your story and know just how you feel about having friends and how God uses them in amazing ways and at JUST the right times! Oh, I want to give you a big hug right now! I can only imagine the sorrow of losing a sister, but I do know the loss of both parents, having been with each one until their last breaths! So thank you for sharing your heart with us, as you always do, my friend! And a big thank you for sharing your art as well - it gives me great joy to see it and to read your description and stories! Tender hugs, my friend! You are truly a gift from God! And I too love Proverbs 17:17 and cherish my friends!
