This is for our final HYCCT challenge from Lydia "In the Books" It is hard to believe that one more year of challenges is in the books. When I first saw Lydia's challenge, I thought of books I read as a girl that steered me toward a career in nursing. Sue Barton was my idol. I thought it would be fun to make my book themed card as a thank you note for a nurse. I scanned my book cover and then printed it on photo paper. Once I had my photo panel, I searched through this week's queen for the day gallery for some layout and color inspiration. Theresa/Misstreez's gallery is fabulous and she has been a participant in HYCCT since 2010! I chose this fun HYCCT card from that year. I chose to use yellow as my second color instead of Theresa's pink because of the yellow in the title of my book cover, but stuck with Wasabi and Vanilla as the others. I put my lace and ribbon accent on the vertical instead of the horizontal because of the placement of Miss Barton on the cover. I echoed the circle in my sentiment circle layered over a scallop. Theresa dry embossed her back panel and I did my base.

This is the cleverest way to make a book themed card, Gail - and I'm sure that this is going to snapped up by someone to send, it's just so perfect. And to top it off, retro is trendy right now, so it just fits the bill in every way!
So very clever and makes for a fabulous card. Love the monochromatic green.

What a great card and how clever of you to scan the book cover. This is a well deserved thank you to all the nurses out there. Love the green and yellow combo on this.

Great card! That is what I do for local community theater cards. I scan the cover of the program and send a note that I printed with that on it to say how much I liked the play! TFs
