Are you participating in the 2014 Hope You Can Cling To (HYCCT) Challenge and card drive this year? A worthy cause, fun challenges, and prizes -- a win-win!
This is my card sample for Susie's (Susie Australia) HYCCT1429 Challenge, Create a Background.
I decided on a Faux Watercolor background by stamping a large sentiment from Taylored Expressions in white pigment ink and embossing with clear powder. Once dry, I colored horizontally across the sentiment with Ranger Distress Markers (I wasn't careful), and then spritzed with water liberally and let the colors mix and pool. You can let your piece dry naturally, or use a heat gun if you prefer. Jennifer McGuire has a wonderful tutorial on this technique here. I stamped my Memory Box bird, colored it with Copics, fussy cut and popped it up for some added interest to the sentiment. Now who isn't encouraged by the sweet song and sight of a bluebird? (she smiles)
Thank you so much Susie (SusieAustralia) for hosting this HYCCT Challenge, and for sharing your time and talent with all of us. You are loved!
Don't stand in the Background on this challenge, play along and let's all help send some encouragement to those in need with some beautiful handmade cards from the heart. You can find us here.
