Bridget asked that we be inspired by our hero. My hero is my mom. My mom inspired me to follow in her nursing footsteps. I went to the same nursing school & followed her into OB. In 1983 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer & the following year she passed surrounded by her family. She was always so positive & never once showed that she ever thought 'why me?' She'd say 'at least it isn't one of the kids' (the grands) or 'it isn't one of you' (me & my sister). She was there when each of her 7 grandchildren were born. She would've been 89 & I know would be looking forward to getting a great-great grandbaby soon. So that's why I chose this image. I just remembered that I was going to do some stitching on this because she also loved to sew. If we knew then what we know today, maybe there'd be a cure for cancer. I love you mom & miss you so much.
Thanks for stopping in.

I also followed my mom into nursing though she was OB and I was Peds. My mom hasn't ever expressed a "why me" about her cancer either. Love your sweet tribute card to a mom who sounds like a great lady!

Lovely card as a tribute to your beloved Mom, Karen. You have indeed followed in her footsteps....and are the kind person that you are because of her guidance. The nurse image is a fitting tribute.

So sorry that your mom passed so young, Karen. What a beautiful way to pay tribute to her by following in her footsteps. She sounds like she was a wonderful person to know and especially to be related to. You are so blessed, mf!

I didn't know you were a nurse, Karen - what a wonderful role model your Mom was and she must have been so proud to see you go into this valued people helping profession. This is such a sweet, sweet image and the pink ribbons are perfect. (the image brought back a memory for me of a little nurse uniform my mom bought me to help "nurse" my grandpa after an operation - thanks for that) I love how clean the bg is too. Thanks for sharing part of your heart and art in this challenge, Karen! xx
