O-M-Goodness! I don't know when I've been as frustrated with a card!! This really was a lesson in patience because I wanted to trash it so badly, but I kept at it. I completed, finally, two challenges.
First Audrie's IC site today was amazing - Cotton & Crumbs. What a cool name for a business. I chose this cupcake as my inspiration for Sabrina's HYCCT 'hold it together' challenge. Sabrina asked that we attach our elements without our usual resources! What no tape? no popdots? not glue dots? Oh my, what's a girl to do? SEW! That's what!
As soon as I saw that cupcake I knew what I wanted to do & how I'd attach the flowers without tape, etc. I punched all the flowers, die cut the circle & crimped it (the frosting). Then I started poking holes in the flower centers. Next out came the needle & DMC floss. French knots look perfect for flower centers. The frustration began. My knots did not go as smoothly as they do on Aida cloth! But I finally got both blossoms knotted onto the circle!! Then I cut the yellow flower. Now I've not done one of these rolled flowers in a LONG time. More frustration because it would not stay tight. I had to cheat & use lots of glue. I think I worked on this flower for 1/2 hr! Then the cheating continued & I attached the white flowers with glue & added the half pearls. They are self-stick so no cheating there. Then I embossed the Crumb Cake (the cake) & attached that to Smokey Slate (the cupcake wrapper) with a little tape so I could pierce the hole. Sewed that while watching some TV. I taped the circle to the CC panel (not cheating) & then to the card base. It was finally done & my story is done. I'm sure you're glad.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see some sunlight tomorrow for a better photo session.
As promised, a sunshine photo, fleeting as the sun may be today!

Wow, Karen, what a pretty, pretty flower arrangment. I know that French knots on paper aren't easy - I once had the bright idea (LoveFest, I think) of using them for the centre of a sunflower and it will be along time before I do it again. So I really appreciate the effort you put into this. But didn't it pay off - they really do look like little stamens. Thank for playing along and Holding It Together with much exercise of your patience.
It is so so pretty! This is quite the challenge. I was gone all day yesterday and didn't get to play along so now it's catch up time. I have an idea and this inspired me. Love your card.
