After oooing and ahhing over some peoples' gelli plate creations (Nancy and Susie to name a few), and whining that my one attempt failed, I gave it another try. While digging the gelli plate out of the "evil products graveyard" (the back of the coat closet) I also resurected 2 other banished items - perfect pearls and gold foil. Then I watched some tutorials. As usual, I by passed all the easier techniques for beginners and chose something difficult. This took so long that I had to post it, but now that I struggled through this first attempt, I think a second one would work out better. Here are the steps. Use wax paper to mask some areas on the gelli plate...this is important for the final step. I masked a small rectangle for the sentiment to show through. I also tore some random pieces and placed them on the gelli plate. I brayered yellow and red acrylic paint then made some squiggles with a comb. Remove the masks. You have to let the paint dry between each step. You can't tell, but I did use a stencil to apply the dark green paint. I used bottle caps to make the circles. When everything is dry, cover the entire surface by laying 3 strips of clear packaging tape (side by side, but do not over lap) over the dry paint, sticky side on the paint. Since my gelli is a 6 inch square and the tape is 2 inches, it fits perfectly. Burnish the tape down, then carefully peel back one strip at a time, making sure the paint sticks to the tape. Lay the strips sticky side up on your work surface. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and placed it face down on the exposed unpainted part (the area that was covered by the mask). I added gold foil, tin foil and perfect pearls plus some book paper to the unpainted sticky areas. Flip the tape strips over and reassemble onto cardstock. Hope that was not too confusing. TFL, Francie

Wow, this is stunning. Thanks for all those details. I have a Gelli plate and love it. Wonder what we ever did without it, eh? I love the vibrancy of your card, and how you used bottle caps. Into my favourites.
